Soon after Tata Motors news acquired Ford manufacturing facilities in Sanand, Gujarat broke, further revelation of plans to start out. In recent developments, it has been known that Tata Motors wants to invest RS 2,000 Crore at this new manufacturing plant to make it a hub for the production of new generation of electric vehicles. Tata Motors is eyeing to produce 2 lakh electric vehicles a year in this new factory in 2026.

This information by Etauto comes a few days after substitution launches the concept of Curvv which is all new, which will spawn intermediate electric SUVs above the NEXON EV. At present, Tata Motors produces NEXON EV at Pune Plant and Tigor EV at the Sanand plant, which is located close to manufacturing facilities from Ford. Apart from Tigor EV, the existing manufacturing plant from Tata Motors in Sanand, which was originally established to produce Nano, is also a manufacturing center for component cars such as Tiago and Tigor.

Tata Motors reportedly marked an agreement with Ford India, where it would not put one of the existing employees working when this manufacturing facility was under the control of Ford India. To acquire this factory successfully, Tata Motors is currently in conversation with the state government, which includes completion of conditions such as balancing incentives that meet the promised requirements to Ford India up to 2030.

Even the state government was interested in new plans Tata Motors to cover Ford production facilities into EV hubs. A spokesman from the Gujarat government has said that this proposed takeover will encourage more local and global producers to establish their bases around the manufacturing plant, which will only create more income and employment opportunities.

Inaugurated in 2015, the Ford Motor Company Manufacturing Assembly in Sanand provides direct work to around 3,000 employees, all of which will be maintained by Tata Motors if acquiring this plant. Ford has invested Rs 4,500 Crores to regulate this broad facility, which has a capacity of producing 2.4 lakh car units and 2.7 lakh machines every year.

Ford is used to produce compact cars such as Figo, Aspire and Freestyle in this manufacturing facility. In September 2021, Ford India decided to turn off its local manufacturing process on both plants, each in Chennai and Sanand. Since then, talks between Tata Motors and Ford India are active in transferring the ownership of Sanand manufacturing facilities to the first.
