The cause of death for “Sister Wives” alum Garrison Brown, who tragically passed away in March at the age of 25, has been revealed.
According to an autopsy report obtained by USA TODAY from the Coconino County Health and Human Services Medical Examiner’s Office, Brown died from a gunshot wound to the head, with the manner of death ruled as suicide.
The report also highlighted ethanol intoxication (alcohol poisoning) as a significant contributing factor. Brown’s blood alcohol level (BAC) was 0.307% according to an iliac blood analysis and 0.370% per a vitreous analysis. The Cleveland Clinic notes that a BAC over 0.40% is considered potentially fatal.
Flagstaff Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Jerry L. Rintala confirmed Brown’s death to USA TODAY in an emailed statement on March 5. Officers discovered Brown “deceased as a result of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound,” and there was no indication of foul play.
Garrison Brown’s Family Honors His Memory
Garrison Brown’s parents, Janelle and Kody Brown, shared their grief and paid tribute to their son through emotional Instagram posts.
“Kody and I are heartbroken to share the news of our beloved son, Robert Garrison Brown. He brought so much light into the lives of everyone who knew him,” Janelle wrote on March 5. “His absence creates an immense void that leaves us breathless. We kindly ask for privacy as we honor his memory.”
Brown’s brother, Hunter Brown, also honored his late sibling by posting a series of photos with Garrison on Instagram. “‘When tomorrow starts without me…'” he quoted from a David Romano poem in his March 26 post.
“I don’t have a eulogy or a long caption to share. All I can say is that I love Garrison, and he has always been and will always be a significant part of my life,” Hunter wrote. “I will strive to cherish every moment, big or small, with my loved ones, and I encourage you to do the same.”
“Sister Wives” viewers were first introduced to Garrison Brown in 2010 during the premiere season of the TLC reality series, which has chronicled the lives of one of America’s most well-known polygamous families over its 18 seasons.
