Oregon man charged in the deaths of 3 women may be linked to more killings: Authorities

A 39-year-old man from Oregon, Jesse Calhoun, faces charges related to the deaths of three women, with authorities suspecting potential links to two other cases.

The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office announced on Friday that Calhoun is charged with three counts of second-degree murder and three counts of second-degree abuse of a corpse. Currently held at the Snake River Correctional Institution, Calhoun will soon be transferred to Multnomah County for arraignment.

The charges stem from investigations into the deaths of Charity Lynn Perry, 24, Bridget Leanne Webster, 31, and Joanna Speaks, 32, all found deceased under suspicious circumstances last year. Additionally, there are indications of possible connections to cases in Clackamas County and Portland.

Details regarding Calhoun’s legal representation remain unclear.

The victims’ bodies were discovered in April 2023, beginning with Joanna Speaks, whose remains were found in Ridgefield, Washington. Charity Lynn Perry was located near Ainsworth State Park in east Multnomah County, while Bridget Leann Webster’s body was found in northwest Polk County.

Collaborative efforts from various agencies, including the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI, have been instrumental in investigating these cases.

Authorities suspect a potential link to two other investigations involving Kristin Smith and Ashley Real. Smith was reported missing from Gresham in December 2022, with her remains later discovered in Portland. Real’s remains were found in May 2023 in Eagle Creek.

The Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office acknowledges the impact of these deaths on the community and reaffirms its commitment to pursuing justice for the victims and their families.
