‘Terrifying’: North Carolina woman discovers creepy hidden room in cousin’s new home

A woman from North Carolina has become an internet sensation after stumbling upon a mysterious hidden room in her cousin’s new house.

Noelle Pierce, a photographer based in Charlotte, was given the code to enter the recently purchased property by her cousin. Little did she know, she would discover something spine-chilling during her tour.

In a TikTok video that has garnered over 13.3 million views, Pierce expressed her shock and fear at the sight of the hidden room. “My cousin just bought a new house and I am scared,” she captioned the video. As she opened the door to the room, viewers were greeted with a tiny space resembling a child’s playroom, complete with low ceilings and unusual latches on the floor.

While Pierce found the room unsettling, her cousin found it amusing. “She thinks it’s funny,” Pierce revealed in an interview with USA TODAY.

The peculiar room, constructed with screws and metal pieces instead of hinges, raised suspicions for Pierce. “I told her to padlock them because I think someone is living in her walls,” she remarked in the video.

Despite Pierce’s apprehension, some TikTok users expressed admiration for the hidden room, likening it to a secret playroom from childhood. Others, however, couldn’t shake off the eerie vibe, drawing parallels to unsettling scenarios from crime shows.

Following the viral success of her initial video, Pierce shared a follow-up video providing more insights into the creepy room. She revealed that there were no pictures of the room in the Zillow listing her cousin had shown her before purchasing the house. Additionally, Pierce showed followers the attic access located opposite the hidden room, further adding to the mystery.

While the rest of the house appears normal, Pierce admitted that the strange room remains a source of intrigue. As she concluded her video, Pierce referenced the case of Daniel LaPlante, also known as “the boy in the walls,” underscoring the chilling undertones of her discovery.

Overall, the peculiar room has left Pierce and her cousin with an unsettling feeling, serving as a stark reminder of the unexpected surprises that can lurk within the walls of a seemingly ordinary home.
